The Butler-Poole Farm

The Butler-Poole Farm was likely built sometime between 1820 and 1840 given its architectural design. The home shows up on a map of the Battle of Ball’s Bluff from 1861, and there’s no question that troops marched literally through the farm’s fields on the way to crossing the Potomac River to attack confederate forces. The home fell into a state of disrepair and was significantly damaged during a fire in the 1980s, resulting in it being torn down.
