On Sunday I highlighted a few historic Ag Reserve homes that have been destroyed over the years. The Lawrence White Farm was one of them:
Lawrence Allnutt White built this home for his new bride, Annie Oliver Belt White, in 1883. Known as Linden Farm (named for the Linden Trees in the area), Lawrence worked the land until retiring in 1920. Lawrence was born at Inverness (literally across the street) and Annie was his grade-school sweetheart. They raised eight children in this home. At one point, Lawrence also served as a Montgomery County Commissioner.
After retiring, the farm had a few different owners. Over time, the farm was neglected. Sadly, the home burned down in a fire in the early 1990s, but the historic Gothic barn was revitalized at some point later. Today the property is owned by the county and used as a meeting place by the Sugarloaf Citizens Association.
