Joshua Chilton (1758-1847) built this home sometime around 1800 (It’s actually three different sections that have been connected). He was married five times throughout the course of his life, and as a result, there are a lot of children and grandchildren to research further.
One of the more detailed entries in the archives that I was able to piece together was that of William C. Chilton (Joshua’s grandson). William fought throughout the Civil War for the Confederacy, was wounded three times in battle (Cedar Mountain, 2nd Manassas, and Fredericksburg), and captured at Spotsylvania in 1864.
This is definitely one of the older homes in the Ag Reserve. I’ll keep digging to learn more.
